Diversify Your Investments with a loan against your stock

If you're like everyone else in the market today, you've been considering expanding the range of possibilitties in your investment portfolio, without reducing your position. You can do that by using your stock portfolio for a limited-recourse loan.

Consider this possibility

  • You just spoke with your advisor and he tells you to get into an energy related limited partnership. You have $150,000 of a stock, but you don’t want to sell before it goes back up! But the you'd need a minimum of $100,000 to act on the partnership participation.
  • Using your $150,000 stock for a stock loan will give you more than the $100,000 And, at the end of 5 years if it performed at a minimum of 8%, you would have gained 8% on your $150,000 minus interest from the new project. You would also have taken $27,500 from the balance of the transaction.
